After Whistleblowing

You've done it, now be prepared for some "hard yards."

--Allow the investigation to take its course but be realistic as these investigations are often very slow, taking several months, sometimes even years to complete!
--Reply in a timely and professional manner to investigation queries.
--Remember your motive; whistleblowing should be about fairness, justice, and ethics.
--Keep confidential matters confidential; respect the privacy policy of the investigative organization.
--"Watch your back" and be careful of whom you trust
--If you experience retaliation, report it (don't tolerate it)
--Media exposure can be problematic.  Discuss with a lawyer to avoid confidentiality violations.
